MAKE A MUSIC MATCH
MIWC's 2016 and 2017 children's summer music camps were so successful, more children showed up at the doors than were ever expected, certainly more than the budget was expected to handle.
This year we anticipate the music will draw even more children to hear about Jesus Christ, and this year we need to be ready for every child who shows up on the camp's doorsteps hungry for God's love, and for those who are simply hungry. We need to be prepared with the resources to lovingly welcome each of those children, introduce them to the God who loves them, teach them how to express their faith through music and take care of whatever their needs are on any given day.
To make that happen, we need to raise $17,400 for our camp ministries.
We are so very thankful to God that this summer the majority of the camp teachers will be local Ukrainian believers – fulfilling our mission to raise up nationals to lead on their own in their own communities and beyond.
The past two summers, MIWC volunteers running the camp in Chernobyl-area Ivankiv, discovered a town of young people with very little joy and slim hope that their lives will improve.
But they also found this group brought energy, enthusiasm and determination to succeed in the pursuit of music.
Music seems to breakthrough in this community – bringing joy and an understanding of the truths of God in a place where people can face tragic living conditions.
At this location, camp leaders also provided for a lot of the basic physical needs of the children, including little-seen fresh produce and warm clothing.
MIWC announces an exciting $500 anonymous matching grant beginning NOW, which will help outfit these Ivankiv children with musical instruments to further their study, bringing them closer in their relationships to Christ.
Donate now in any amount and help turn $500 into $1000 for children in this hurting town. Just click here, select "Other" on the camp support form and mention Ivankiv in the description.

MORE ABOUT EACH OF OUR CAMP LOCATIONS:
Irpin is a growing suburb of the Ukrainian capital city of Kyiv and hosts a very large refugee population – southeastern Ukrainians who have relocated from the war zone. The Irpin camp will be held on the grounds of a ministry complex that houses the Irpin Bible Church and a Christian Conference Center. The 2016 MIWC camp in Irpin attracted 40 students and almost 90 campers came in 2017. Outreach into the community will be a major focus in Irpin.
Ivankiv is about 75 miles northwest of Kyiv and only 30 miles south of the Chernobyl nuclear plant. The radiation fallout from the April 1986 tragedy there has had a very definite impact on surrounding cities, including increased rates of cancer, especially of the thyroid. The substantial poverty rate and general poor health of the population are evident in Ivankiv.
A Ukrainian pastor (seen here with a group of children) and his family relocated to Ivankiv several years ago and began a tiny church plant where their main work has been with the neglected children of the area. MIWC first teamed up with the pastor in summer 2016 to offer a music camp for the children in the community. More than 75 children flocked to that camp. The camp was highly evangelistic in nature as the children had little to no knowledge of God. The 2017 camp in Ivankiv, which grew to an astounding 130 campers, focused especially on outreach and continuing the children's introduction to basic music skills.
